Can I put bigger tires on my SUV with same wheels?

My ford explorer stock rims are designed for a 235/70/16 tire. Would it be possible to put a bigger tire on the same wheels I have now?Can I put bigger tires on my SUV with same wheels?
Your can put bigger / wider tires on the same rims. I went up a couple of sizes on my with no problem. If you get too big you will have a problem with wearing the center of the tire out and you also have to watch and make sure that you are not going to rub a fender or the fire wall when you install them. You can but double check whether or not you have ABS. Most ABS systems have a 5% margin of error built in and can get screwy with a different tire size than what they're calibrated for.
