Is it possible to convert a mobile home axle to use standard/regular axle wheels and tires?

I would like to do away with the mobile home tires and convert it to use regular trailer wheels and tires.|||most mobile home trailer axles will take small bolt pattern wheels and tires.from ford or chevy.largest tire size is 215/75/15 so as not to scrape frame,or fenders when loaded.|||yes you can, change the hubs to 5,6 or 8 hole rims, your local rv deler can help you out.|||I think your big issue is going to be the weight capacity of the std wheels/tires. I woudl suggest you check the weight rating of the trailer wheels/tires on the unit, and make sure that your proposed wheels/tires meet or exceed that rating.|||Are you continuing to use the axle on the mobile home, or are you using it for a new purpose.

Most mobile homes have multiple axles - between 2 and 4 - to distribute the weight.

The special wheels and tires are needed to support the weight,

If you are using it for a new purpose, then you are better off scrounging a lighter duty axle.|||sure if you want to spend 10x what the trailers worth

is it on a mobile home or a homemade trailer?

if its a homemade trailer keep the oem tires

you can get new ones cheap from MH sellers

when they ware out

  1. Included in the yearly maintenance of our mobile home is the mobile home axle. Most homeowners forget this part and that's a bad thing. It could mean hundreds of dollars in untimely repairs if you are not proactive enough. It's easy to clean and lubricate, and if you have a system already in place in terms of upkeep, then this will be a seamless thing to do. Rusting poses a problem so make sure to periodically examine it to see if there's repair to be done.
