I have a 98 jeep wrangler with regular stock wheels and tires 30 in but i want some 30 in mud tires that are a bit wider if i get wider tires will i also have to buy wider wheels is basicly the qestion im trying to ask.Jeep tire question. I have stock tires and wheels but will i have to buy wider wheels With wider tires?
That would depend on the maximum width your wheel will handle (that would be 30x9.5 for stock). You might be able to go just a little wider, but no reputable tire shop would mount them due of liability issues. You should also consider the laws that require fenders cover the tire, if you go wider you may need to make other modifications.Jeep tire question. Narrow rims allow you to air down more off road and still keep the bead. I run 8 inch wide rims on my 12.5 inch wide tires.
For street use, the rim width would need to more closely match the tire width. For mudders, I like narrow rims.

On my 97 TJ 4 cylinder I'm running 31x10.50x15 on stock suspension and stock wheels. This is my daily driver and the tires rub on sharp turns. You need at least 3.75 of back space if you don't want this to happen. Like I said this is ny daily drive I don't off road with this one.
