How do I fit wheels to different sized tires?

I just bought new tires. The sizes are 245/45/17 for the front and 275/40/17 for the back. How do I get wheels to fit the different sizes? How do I fit wheels to different sized tires?
Leaving aside the question of if the wheels will fit the car... you would most likely used staggered wheel sizes: probably 8 or 8.5 x17" in the front, and 9 or 9.5 x17" in the back for the sizes you mention. I've seen a 275 squeezed on an 8" rim before, but it's not a good fit... you might get away with 8.5" all the way around, but a staggered setup would be much better to support the staggered tire sizes.

Finding wheels to fit tires are pretty easy... getting wheels that fit the car is the harder part (but as long as the lug pattern, offset, and backspacing match... and wheels of that size will actually fit the car, shouldn't be a problem). How do I fit wheels to different sized tires?
I believe that your present wheels should work for both tires sizes.

The difference in tire width is only 30 mm or about an inch and an eighth for the rear wheels.

Check with your tire shop to verify. How do I fit wheels to different sized tires?
I'll go out on a limb here and say check in the yellow pages under tires and wheels.
