If my beach cruiser bike came with 26" wheels and tires, would it be okay to switch to 24"?

I just bought a cruiser bike that came with 26" wheels and tires. I'm pretty short, so I would be more comfortable with 24". I now know that I should have gotten a bike that came with that size to begin with. I really don't want to have to return the bike. So can someone tell me if it is okay to switch to 24" wheels and tires? The design of the bike is like a typical beach cruiser for women. If my beach cruiser bike came with 26" wheels and tires, would it be okay to switch to 24"?
Your bike is designed to have 26" wheels, switching wheels is going to cost a very large fraction of the original cost of your bike. If you have caliper brakes that work on your rims, you will no longer have any brakes. Your pedals will be closer to the ground, you will have a very real risk of them hitting the ground as you turn corners, which would be likely to cause you to fall. Bikes with 26" wheels can be sized for even short adults if the frame is small enough, 24" wheels are for children. If you bought your bike at a real bike store, take it back and tell them you need a smaller frame. If you bought the bike in a big box type store thinking you were going to save money, you got a one size fits most bike that doesn't fit you. Switching wheels is not your solution, you need to buy a bike yhat fits properly in the first place.

No. Your bike is not set up for 24" tires. You will be altering the geometry of the bike and this a no-no.If my beach cruiser bike came with 26" wheels and tires, would it be okay to switch to 24"?
Return the bike and get one that fits. Putting 24 inch wheels on a 26 inch bike is a very bad idea.
